Head Coach: Chip Sherman

Chip Sherman begins his fifth year as the Raven head football coach and his 38th year overall. Prior to coming to ONW, Coach Sherman was the head coach at Shawnee Mission East for four years. During his stint at East his teams won a Sunflower League Title, District Title, and Regional Title. Coach Sherman spent 20 years as the head coach at Platte City High School where his teams won several state titles in Missouri. Sherman was named Missouri Coach of the Year four times, his teams won several state titles, and between 2000 and 2003 his teams won 52 straight football games. Coach Sherman is a native of New Jersey and Sherman is a member of the College Hall of Fame and as a coach he is a member of the Missouri Football Hall of Fame. Many of Coach Sherman’s players have gone on to highly successful college careers. Sherman has been married to his wife Angie for 38 years. Angie also teaches at ONW in the Social Studies department. They have four children, Keith, Zach, Katie, and Jessica. Keith and Zach were both all-state football players for their father and went on to play college football. Coach Sherman and his wife also have five grandchildren: Landon (8), Rosie (5), Talon (5), Jenna (4), and Rosie (3).


Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator: Pat Butler

Pat Butler helped open Olathe Northwest in 2003 and enters his 15th season as the Ravens Defensive Coordinator. Coach Butler came to Northwest after teaching and coaching for ten years at Frontier Trail Junior High from 1993-2003. Coach Butler served as the varsity assistant basketball coach at Olathe Northwest in 2003 and 2004. Coach Butler served as head 9th grade football coach at Frontier Trail before helping open Olathe Northwest. In 2006, Coach Butler was selected as an assistant coach for the GCKFCA Kansas-Missouri All-Star Game. Coach Butler is a graduate of the University of Missouri and earned a masters degree from the University of Kansas. A native of Overland Park, Coach Butler is a graduate of Shawnee Mission South High School where he played football for the Raiders from 1985-1989. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Butler currently serves as the College and Career Coordinator at Olathe Northwest. Coach Butler currently resides in Olathe with his wife Lisa and their two sons – Jackson (17) and Samuel (15).


Receivers Coach: Lorne Clark

Lorne Clark enters his 9th year as a member of the Olathe Northwest Football Coaching Staff. Coach Clark comes to Olathe Northwest from San Francisco where he coached one year for Thurgood Marshal High School. Clark attend junior college in San Francisco, where he was apart of 2 junior college national champions as an inside slot receiver and tight end. After junior college, Clark graduated from Kansas State University with a BS in Kinesiology and was a member of K-State Big 12 Championship team. He also works as an athletic instructor at Velocity Sports Performance and 68 Inside Sports in Lenexa. A native of San Francisco, California Clark graduated from Lowell High School where he was a 3 sport athlete for the Cardinals in Football, Basketball and Baseball. Lorne and his wife Kimberly reside in Olathe with their daughter Rachel (13), and their son Lawrence (5).


Special Teams Coordinator: Eddie Crupper.

Coach Crupper enters his sixth year coaching for Olathe Northwest, the fifth as the Ravens special teams coordinator. Eddie came to ONW five years from Neosho, Missouri, where for the previous 8 years, he was the head baseball coach for the Neosho Wildcats. At Neosho, Eddie took over a team that had won 8 games in three years and lead them to six straight second-place conference finishes, highlighted by back-to-back legion district championships. Eddie has 20 years of coaching experience in baseball, basketball, football, and soccer, making stops in Joplin, Lee’s Summit, and Neosho. As a player, Coach Crupper attended Tarkio College and Northwest Missouri State. Eddie and his wife Jill have two children: Easton, a 2018 graduate of ONW, and Hannah, an ONW junior.


Assistant Football Coach, Defensive Line: Jon Krug

Jon Krug is entering his 35th year coaching football. Coach Krug’s currently coaches the defensive line for the varsity squad. Before coming to Olathe Northwest, Coach Krug had served as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach in the Shawnee Mission and De Soto School districts, and defensive secondary and special teams coordinator at Ottawa University. Coach Krug is a graduate of Ottawa University where he was a 3-year starter as a defensive back. Coach Krug and his wife Jeanne have two grown sons, both of whom are ONW graduates. Coach Krug currently teaches in the Northwest social science department.


Assistant Football Coach, Defensive Backs: Justin Slaven

Justin Slaven enters his 9th year as a member of the Olathe Northwest Football Coaching Staff. Coach Slaven is entering his 28th straight football season. Slaven graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University with a Bachelor’s in Science Education. A native of Weskan Kansas, Slaven played football for the Coyotes of Weskan High School before going on to play defensive back for the MNU Pioneers. Justin’s wife Jen works as a social worker at Santa Fe Trail Junior High. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Justin teaches Chemistry and AP Chemistry at Olathe Northwest. Justin and Jen reside in Olathe with their 3 boys, Jax (12), Kaden (10) and Griffin (8).


Freshmen Assistant Coach: Richie Blazevic

Richie Blazevic begins his 5rd year as a member of the Olathe Northwest coaching staff. Coach Blazevic comes to Olathe Northwest from Shawnee Mission West where he coached football and assisted the Vikings to a 6A State Championship. Coach Blazevic played quarterback in High School from 2005-2007 where he earned the honors of All-Metro and All-State. In college Coach Blazevic played quarterback for Coffeyville Community College. He is a December 2012 graduate from Pittsburg State University, majoring in Physical Education. Coach Blazevic is the oldest of four brothers who have all attended Olathe schools. He currently resides in the Olathe.


Assistant Football Coach, Freshmen: Chris Burnett

Coach Burnett enters his third year as a member of the Olathe Northwest Coaching staff. Coach Burnett comes to Olathe Northwest from Santa Fe Trail Middle School where he coached OL/DL for three years and skill positions for one year. Coach Burnett is a 2005 graduate of Olathe North where he played Defensive Tackle and played in three State Championship Games, winning two championships. In college Coach Burnett played center at Highland Community College. Coach Burnett is currently a para at Santa Fe trail. Coach Burnett has an older sister and a younger brother. Coach Burnett lives in Olathe with his wife of eight years Ashley and four kids LaDaya, LaKeisa, Jasmine, and Chris Jr.


Athletic Trainer: Steve Hawkins

Steve begins his 33rd year as a certified athletic trainer working with high school athletes. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and was a test site administrator for the Board of Certification. Steve is a graduate of Pittsburg State University and has a Masters from Indiana State University, specializing in athletic training. He and his wife of 32 years, Paula, have two daughters, both graduates of Olathe Northwest. Rachel (class of 2008), lives in Lawrence, Kansas, and Ashley (class of 2013), is a senior at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. In his free time, Steve enjoys backpacking, reading and spending time with his family and friends.
